What to know about vision coverage and Medicare
When it comes to your vision, what you need isn’t always covered by Original Medicare— for example, routine vision care including eye-exams, glasses, contacts, and other procedures are not covered by Medicare. To avoid paying 100% of the cost out of pocket, choose a Humana Medicare Advantage plan that includes vision coverage to help cover these expenses. Your Humana plan may cover an annual vision exam, a yearly allowance toward standard contacts and glasses (both prescription and over-the counter “cheater readers”), options for specialty lenses (progressive bifocals, anti-scratch, tinted, etc.), frame allowance every 12–24 months, which includes designer brands—all for a minor copay each year.
You can enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan either online or over the phone. If you choose to call, make sure to ask about our optional supplemental benefit plans, which you can add on to a new or existing Medicare Advantage plan to provide even more coverage for advanced or complex vision procedures.
